When it comes to planning a magical Disney vacation in 2024, Disneyland Resort should be top of your list! I’m sharing with you why the original Disney theme park destination has so much to offer and might just be your best choice for a 2024 Disney vacation.

Good News! You can book and plan your trip to Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Ca for 2024 starting Thursday, August 24, 2023.
Size Matters
At Disneyland, your accommodations, the parks, and more are in the same space. The resort property includes two theme parks, three resorts and Downtown Disney (shopping and dining), and it is all walkable. You can hop from one park to another in a matter of minutes using just your feet.

On the flip side, Disney World includes four theme parks, two water parks, over fifteen resorts, Disney Springs (shopping and dining), and three full golf courses. To get around the property, it’s necessary to use an intricate course of buses, monorails, boats and even a skyliner. While some resorts are within walking distance to some parks, it’s almost guaranteed you will find yourself on some type of Disney Transportation during your stay.
At Disneyland, you don’t have to worry about any of that!
What’s Inside Counts
Disneyland has a much more relaxed environment than the hustle and bustle of Disney World. There is less of a push to reserve a lightning lane for attractions. For one, there are far less attractions included in the Genie+ tool. In my experience, the rides and shows at Disneyland have shorter wait times overall.

In addition, Disneyland Park itself is more friendly to small children and their adults. Fantasyland is full of kid-centric attractions with little to no height requirements. The recently renovated “Mickey’s Toontown” is the MOST family friendly area with soft surfaces, grassy areas, and plenty of places for young ones to run around and explore.

This is where guests meet Mickey and his pals in their neighborhood. At Mickey’s Toontown, you can also ride the newest and first ever attraction featuring the mouse and his friends- Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway!
It’s Not Just for Show
While Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom in Disney World is GRAND and even awe inspiring, you can only enjoy Cindy’s curb appeal- unless you are dining at her Royal Table for a meal. However, Sleeping Beauty Castle has opted for the open-door policy. Though she may be petite, Aurora invites her guests to tour her place and learn her story at Disneyland.
Guests can take a self-guided tour through the West Coast icon during park hours and witness the tale of Sleeping Beauty through colorful dioramas.

The Cast of Characters
At both Disneyland and Disney World, guests are free to meet and greet characters from princesses to villains. Disney World has designated areas where guests stand in line and take a moment to hug and take a picture with their favorite Disney IP.

At Disneyland, the same is true, however, the characters are also walking around the parks alongside guests. As one YouTuber stated, “It’s like they live (there).” You can walk with Captain Jack Sparrow through New Orleans Square or skip with Peter Pan in Fantasyland on your visit. This adds to the immersion of being on a Disney vacation.
Not All Attractions are Created Equal
Each of the Disney Theme Park destinations around the world have similar as well as unique attractions in their parks. Disneyland was the first and only park created and operated by Walt himself. Attractions such as Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Space Mountain (to name a few), are available on both coasts and worldwide. However, the ride systems at Disneyland are longer and have more detail. You get more bang for your wait time!

Additionally, Disneyland has some heavy hitting exclusive experiences not available anywhere else. They include:
- Marvel Avenger’s Campus- meet Marvel superheroes and see your favorite Avenger’s in action.
- Carsland- Travel along Route 66 and race your friends on Radiator Springs Racers
- Magic Happens Parade- Witness one of the most inspiring Disney/Pixar themed live entertainments.
- World of Color-One- Enjoy a unique and emotionally charged water projection show.
- Pixar Pier and San Fransokyo- Play, dine and enjoy the waterfront atmosphere of Coastal California

Surround Yourself with History
Disneyland Resort offers the option of staying at one of three Disney owned hotels- The Disneyland Hotel, The Grand Californian Resort and Spa, or Paradise Pier (Soon to become Pixar Place). Each of the three options offer guests impeccable theming and unmatched amenities.
The original Disneyland Hotel is nostalgic and full of history. While it is the oldest, it feels modern and up to date. The retro vibe is full of Disney history. This is where the first guests, celebrities and generations of people have stayed and played among the magic, and the magic shines in the amazing details.
The Grand Californian Resort and Spa is just that-GRAND. The craftsman style architecture reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest feels welcoming and exudes luxury from within.

The transformation of Paradise Pier into Pixar Place is impressive. The new design is colorful, whimsical, and full of Pixar characters in all its spaces. It’s fresh, clean, and ready to be a top contender for a great stay.
Guests also have the option of booking Disney Park vacation packages with good neighbor hotels nearby directly through Disney. Many of the same perks apply as do to Disney resort guests. The best part? They are also within walkable distance of the theme parks.
100 Reasons to Celebrate
Currently the 100th Anniversary celebration of the Disney Company is happening at Disneyland Resort. There’s still time to book your trip and join in on the party! Enjoy special events, treats, decorations and characters in the formal best now at Disneyland but very soon the party will be moving to Epcot in Walt Disney World, Florida.

Disneyland Resort offers guests a relaxed, family-friendly, and magical experience for vacation. The history and nostalgia along with exclusive experiences make this Disney destination a one-of-a-kind trip. You can book your 2024 Disneyland vacation on Thursday, August 24.
