On January 11th, 2022 Universal Studios Announced that a new Universal Park is coming to Frisco, Texas. People have responded to this news with much enthusiasm as the post announcing the new park has been shared almost 18,000 times and has over 23,000 likes. Last Wednesday, Universal posted “JUST ANNOUNCED: Universal Parks & Resorts plans to bring a new concept for families with young children to Frisco, Texas!”
So, Where is Frisco, Texas? And why was it chosen for the new park?
Frisco is half an hour north of Dallas and has a population of about 210,000 people. It is currently one of the quickest growing areas in the United States according to Universal’s corporate press release. The newest park’s location will be east of the Dallas North Tollway and north of Panther Creek Parkway on the 97 acres purchased by Universal.
The new park and resort will be a tad smaller than Universal’s other parks, but Universal promises that it will have the same high quality we have come to expect from it’s other parks.
The photo below was released with Universal’s announcement about the new park. Universal told us that “The proposed park will be designed to be more intimate and engaging for younger audiences and will be sized for a regional audience. It will be full of family-friendly attractions, interactive and playful shows, character meet and greets, unique merchandise and fun food and beverage venues.”
They go on to say, “The proposed park also has plans for an adjacent themed hotel and the entire area is intended to have a completely different look, feel, and scale than Universal’s existing parks and will appeal to a new audience for the brand.” Looking at the photo below you can see what looks to be beautiful foliage, rides, water features, restaurants, and a grand entryway.
“The new park concept, set in a lush green landscape and featuring immersive themed lands, celebrates Universal’s iconic brand of entertainment, humor and innovation and brings to life its beloved characters and stories in ways that will wow even the youngest theme park goers”, states Universal.

Universal ended their press release by stating “We are excited about the opportunity to partner with the city of Frisco and Mayor Cheney as we work to bring this innovative, new concept to life designed specifically for a younger generation of Universal fans. We think North Texas is the perfect place to launch this unique park for families given its growing popularity within this part of the country.” They added that that more details would be released over time.
Get ready, Frisco! Universal is coming.
