Fantasmic is Returning and We Have the Details

Imagination…..Dream a Fantastic Dream”

Can you hear it? Can you hear the music? The slow rise of the melody that leads to the main mouse himself, Mickey! Of course, I’m talking about Fantasmic, the nighttime show in Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort. If you’re unfamiliar with what Fantasmic is, keep reading and we’ll fix that!

This beloved show has been on hiatus since the beginning of the pandemic and it’s finally coming back!

Let’s take a closer look at what Fantasmic is, when it will return and take a closer look at what changes we might see!

Fantasmic will Return but When?

Fantasmic has been delighting guests, nightly, since 1992 and was briefly closed in 2016 for a refresh. During the height of the pandemic, we sadly saw the lights dim and the show sidelined but that’s all about to change. We will see the outdoor theater come to life once again on November 3rd, 2022!

Per Disney: We could not be more excited to share that “Fantasmic!” returns to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Nov. 3. Back and better than ever, the larger-than-life, open-air nighttime musical will boast the live performers, stunning effects, rousing music and dazzling pyrotechnics you know and love – complete with a brand-new show sequence!

Will it Be the Same Show We All Know and Love?

Good Question and the answer to that is a resounding YES…. and better than ever!

The show was spectacular before however Disney has taken advantage of past down time and created new show sequences featuring heroes and villains.

Per Disney, the heroes’ sequence will feature a high-energy Aladdin chase with stunts never before seen on the “Fantasmic!” stage. Along with Aladdin we will see other favorites such as a Frozen segment set to the song “Show Yourself” along with Pocahontas, Moana and Mulan.

Fun fact: To help choreograph the authentic Chinese martial arts you’ll see in Mulan’s scene, the creative team brought in Mimi Chan – the original muse and model animators used when bringing the character of Mulan to life for the 1998 animated film.

Specialty Dinning Packages

Fantasmic is a VERY popular show with maxed out seating, almost every night. One way to eliminate having to stand in line just to make sure you will have a seat is to book a Fantasmic Dining Packages.

In the past, Fantasmic dining packages have been available at Hollywood and Vine, Mama Melrose, Hollywood Brown Derby and 50’s Prime Time. After dining, guests that had booked this specialty dining package would then be given a voucher for VIP access into the evening show along with a special viewing area.

We don’t have the inside scoop just yet on what restaurants will be included but we do know that beginning Oct. 26, “Fantasmic!” dining packages will be available for performances Nov. 30 and beyond.
