Toadstool Cafe at Epic Universe: A Mario-Inspired Meal

Toadstool Cafe at Epic Universe: A Mario-Inspired Meal

If you’re stepping into Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort, there’s one dining experience that feels just as immersive as the rides themselves: Toadstool Cafe inside Super Nintendo World.

This isn’t your typical theme park quick-service spot. From interactive storytelling to beautifully themed dishes, Toadstool Cafe delivers an experience that blends nostalgia, technology, and genuinely great food.

A Meal Inside the Mushroom Kingdom

Walking into Toadstool Cafe feels like stepping directly into the Mushroom Kingdom. The walls come alive with interactive “windows” that show scenes unfolding outside. There are characters moving through the landscape, familiar locations, and little details that keep kids (and adults) constantly looking around.

One of the biggest highlights? When Bowser approaches, the entire room reacts. The lighting shifts, the music changes, and you can feel the excitement ripple through the restaurant.

My kids were completely locked in, watching the scenes play out like a show right from our table.

But the moment that stuck with me most had nothing to do with the screens. Right before we walked in, my youngest paused and said, “I can’t believe I’m eating here… I have been waiting for this my whole life.”

This was his dream, and getting to make that happen made the entire experience worth it.

How Dining Works (Including Mobile Ordering)

Toadstool Cafe has a unique flow that helps keep the experience smooth and immersive:

  • First-come, first-served (no reservations)
  • Mobile ordering is available
  • No to-go food, everything must be enjoyed inside
  • Food is delivered directly to your table

Once you’re inside, you can place your order right from your phone by scanning the QR code at your table. Then, instead of waiting in a pickup line, you simply relax, and your food is brought out to you hot and fresh.

This setup makes a big difference, especially with kids. You’re not juggling trays or rushing to grab a table; it’s all about sitting back and soaking in the atmosphere.

If you’re doing a Universal Orlando VIP Experience, this is an ideal stop to build into your day for a more relaxed break without sacrificing time. We were on a tour while visiting Toadstool Cafe so our tour guide took our orders and had us just sit and relax while we waited for our food!

The Menu: Fun, Themed, and Actually Delicious

The menu at Toadstool Cafe is playful and creative, but what really stands out is how good the food actually is. Everything we ordered came out hot, flavorful, and well-prepared. I truly enjoyed Luigi’s Chicken Sandwich! It didn’t feel too heavy but was just the right amount of food!

Standout Menu Items

  • Mario Bacon Cheeseburger– A burger topped with bacon and cheese, served on a themed bun. It’s filling, flavorful, and a safe win for most eaters.
  • Luigi’s Pesto Chicken Sandwich– A lighter option with grilled chicken and pesto, offering a fresh contrast to some of the heavier menu items.
  • Super Mushroom Soup– Complete with a bread bowl, this soup is both comforting and one of the most on-theme items you can order.
  • Fire Flower Spaghetti & Meatballs– A family-friendly classic with a fun twist. Perfect for kids or anyone wanting something familiar.

Desserts You Don’t Want to Miss

  • Princess Peach’s Cake
This was a standout in every way. It’s light, flavorful, and big enough to share between several people. Definitely don’t order one per person!
  • Mt. Beanpole Cake
Another fun and delicious option with a rich flavor and creative presentation.

Pricing: What to Expect

Toadstool Cafe is priced similarly to other premium quick-service locations at Universal:

  • Entrées: $18–$26
  • Kids meals: $13–$15
  • Desserts: $10–$25

It’s not the cheapest meal in the park, but when you factor in the quality of the food and the immersive environment, it feels well worth it especially for a must-do experience like this.

Hours & When to Go

Hours typically follow the schedule of Universal Epic Universe, but they can vary depending on crowds and season.

Since it’s first-come, first-served, timing is key:

  • Try to arrive early for lunch
  • Or aim for a mid-afternoon visit to avoid peak crowds

This is also a perfect indoor air-conditioned break while enjoying everything happening around Universal Orlando Resort.

Why It Fits Perfectly Into Your Universal Trip

Whether you’re planning a holiday visit, building out a VIP day, or just exploring Epic Universe for the first time, Toadstool Cafe fits seamlessly into your itinerary.

It offers something different: a chance to slow down, sit together, and experience the story in a whole new way.

And sometimes, those quieter moments end up being the most memorable.
