Epcot is one of those Disney parks that can be hard to describe until you experience it for yourself.
It’s part theme park, part journey around the world, part celebration of food and culture, and YES there are some seriously fun attractions mixed in.
For years, Epcot was sometimes treated as a “half-day park.” That really doesn’t do it justice. Today, Epcot is a park where you can ride an indoor coaster through the galaxy, shrink down to the size of Remy, travel around the world, enjoy some of Disney’s most interesting dining, and stumble upon a festival celebration that makes your visit feel completely different depending on the time of year.
And that’s really what makes Epcot special: there’s a lot to experience, and you can make your day whatever you want it to be.
Whether you’re visiting with young kids, traveling with adults, or looking for a park where you can slow down and enjoy the details, Epcot deserves a full day on your Walt Disney World itinerary.

Big-Ticket Attractions at Epcot
If attractions are a big part of your Disney day, Epcot has a few that you won’t want to overlook.
Three of the park’s most popular attractions can also mean some of the longest waits, so having a plan can make a big difference. Depending on your travel dates and priorities, Lightning Lane options may be worth considering.
Let’s take a look at the big ones.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
If you like your Disney attractions with a serious dose of adrenaline, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the one to know about.
This indoor coaster features Disney World’s first reverse launch, sending you backward into the adventure before the ride really gets going. The attraction is set inside the fictional Wonders of Xandar pavilion, and you’ll join the Guardians as they attempt to save the day.
And because this is the Guardians of the Galaxy we’re talking about, the soundtrack is a big part of the fun.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
Ready to shrink down to the size of a rat?
That’s exactly what happens on Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
You’ll race through Gusteau’s restaurant with Remy and his friends on this trackless attraction inspired by Ratatouille. It’s a fun choice for families and fans of the movie, but wait times can get long.
If this is a must-do attraction for your family, it’s worth having a strategy for when you’ll ride it rather than simply hoping the standby line cooperates.

Frozen Ever After
For Frozen fans, Frozen Ever After is an easy addition to the must-do list.
This dark boat ride takes you into the world of Arendelle with familiar characters and songs from the movie. It’s a relatively gentle attraction, making it a popular choice for families—but that also means the line can get long.
If Frozen is a priority, think about when you’ll ride it rather than leaving it until the middle of a busy Epcot day.

The Epcot Attractions That Just Feel Good
Not every favorite Disney attraction needs to be fast.
Some of Epcot’s best experiences are the ones where you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the story. And let’s be honest, sometimes a little air conditioning in the middle of a Florida afternoon doesn’t hurt either.
These are the attractions that give you a chance to slow down while still experiencing what makes Epcot different.

Spaceship Earth
Start your Epcot day with a journey through the history of human communication inside the park’s most recognizable landmark.
Living with the Land
This gentle boat ride takes you behind the scenes to explore agriculture, sustainability, and some of the innovative growing techniques Disney uses at Epcot.

The Seas with Nemo & Friends
Join Nemo and friends on a gentle dark ride, then stick around to explore The Seas pavilion and its massive aquarium.
Soarin’
Strap in and get ready to feel like you’re flying over some of the world’s most incredible landmarks.
Journey Into Imagination With Figment
This slow-moving dark ride explores the five senses with everyone’s favorite little purple dragon, Figment.
It’s quirky. It’s nostalgic. And it’s very Epcot.

Rides That Divide Us
And then there are the attractions that seem to inspire one of two reactions:
“Let’s do it again!”
or
“Absolutely not.”
Enter Mission: SPACE.
Want to experience what it feels like to blast off into space? This is about as close as you’re going to get at Epcot.
For some guests, it’s a must-do. For others, just hearing the description is enough to make them queasy.
If you’re unsure, know what you’re getting into before you climb aboard.
After your mission, take some time to explore Space Base, an interactive play area where younger guests can burn off some energy.

Test Track
Test Track has returned following an extensive reimagining, bringing back the high-speed thrills while placing a renewed focus on the future of mobility.
The attraction explores ideas surrounding safety, sustainability, connectivity, and transportation technology. And yes—the high-speed finale is still there for those who came for the thrill.

Travel Around the World at Epcot
Here’s where Epcot really becomes Epcot.
The World Showcase takes you on a 1.2-mile journey around World Showcase Lagoon, with 11 different country pavilions to explore.
And you don’t have to rush through them.
Take your time. Browse the shops. Try something new to eat. Stop for entertainment. Take pictures. Enjoy the details.
The countries represented are:
- Mexico
- Norway
- China
- Germany
- Italy
- The United States
- Japan
- Morocco
- France
- The United Kingdom
- Canada

One of my favorite things about World Showcase is that you don’t necessarily need a plan for every minute of it.
Sometimes the best Epcot moments happen when you simply wander.

Dine Among the Stars
Epcot has no shortage of interesting dining, but Space 220 takes the experience to another level—literally.
You’ll board a special elevator and travel 220 miles above Earth to a simulated space station, where you’ll enjoy views of the planet while you dine.
The restaurant offers a prix-fixe menu, and advance dining reservations are recommended.
Wondering if the experience is worth the hype?
Read Is Space 220 Really Worth the Hype? and decide for yourself.
There’s also a lounge option for guests who want to experience Space 220 without committing to the full prix-fixe meal. It’s a nice option if you’d rather grab a bite, enjoy a drink, and take in the atmosphere.

Epcot Festivals
If you’re visiting Epcot during a festival, you’re getting an entirely different version of the park.
Epcot hosts seasonal festivals throughout much of the year, celebrating art, gardens, food, wine, and the holidays.
And here’s the best part: there’s no separate admission charge to enter the festivals. They’re part of your regular Epcot park admission.
The festival kitchens are a huge part of the experience, with small bites and drinks inspired by the festival theme and the countries around World Showcase. You’ll also find entertainment, special offerings, merchandise, and other seasonal extras.
The festivals include:
- Festival of the Arts — January to February
- Flower & Garden Festival — March to June/July
- Food & Wine Festival — July/August through November
- Festival of the Holidays — November to December

Shopping at Epcot
Yes, you can shop at Epcot.
And no, you don’t have to wait until you’re back at Magic Kingdom to find plenty of Disney merchandise.
Creations Shop is one of the largest merchandise locations in Walt Disney World, and you’ll also find unique shopping opportunities throughout the World Showcase pavilions.
And then there’s Club Cool.
Stop in for complimentary samples of Coca-Cola products from around the world. Some are familiar. Some are…not.
And then there’s Beverly.
I’ll just let you decide for yourself.

Final Thoughts: Give Epcot a Full Day
Epcot has changed a lot over the years, and I think that’s part of what makes it such an interesting Disney park.
You can spend the day chasing attractions, eating your way around World Showcase, enjoying a festival, exploring the pavilions, or doing a little bit of everything.
Want to ride a coaster through the galaxy? You can.
Want to travel around the world without leaving Florida? Absolutely.
Want to grab a snack, wander through a pavilion, and enjoy the atmosphere? That’s an Epcot day, too.
Don’t feel like you have to experience Epcot one particular way.
That’s the beauty of this park.
