Launched in December 2021, Disney Genie is the newest way to personalize and plan your Walt Disney World Vacation. Located in the My Disney Experience app, Disney Genie helps you plan your perfect Disney day at each park.
Disney Genie Plus takes that to the next level and allows you to experience even more magic and skip some lines while you’re at it.
What is the difference between Disney Genie and Disney Genie Plus?
Disney Genie is a complimentary service included in the My Disney Experience App. With Disney Genie you truly take your Disney vacation into your own hands! It allows you to plan a customizable itinerary while giving you tips and suggestions to help your day become even more magical.
Disney Genie Plus includes your customizable itinerary, tips and tricks, magical extras, and lets you to book access to Lightning Lane entrances and purchase individual Lightning Lanes.
Genie Plus also gives you access to Audio Tales, pod cast inspired audio clips, to learn fun and interesting facts about the parks.
Last but certainly not least, Disney Genie Plus gives you access to fun and unique Disney Photo Pass lenses.
What is a Lightning Lane?
A Lightning Lane is a seperate line entrance that is significantly shorter than the normal stand-by line for park attractions. This new, special entrance replaced Disney’s previous FastPass system that was discontinued back in 2021.
To use the Lightning Lane entrance, you reserve a one hour return time in the My Disney Experience app through the Disney Genie. You then arrive for the ride/attraction during the one-hour return time, scan your magic band, ticket, etc, and enter the attraction via the Lightning Lane.
Guests who purchase Disney Genie Plus average 2-3 skip the line attraction uses per day, but you can snag even more if you make your first selection early and stay on top of your selections throughout the day.
Want more? There are also individual Lightning Lanes available for purchase a la carte. These Lightning Lane return times can be used alongside the Lightning Lane return times that are included with Disney Genie Plus. After purchasing the individual Lightning Lane just select your return time, and return to the attraction during the one-hour time frame you booked.
How much does it cost?
Disney Genie Plus has a different cost for each park, each day. Is it worth the $15-29 per person, per day? Absolutely! And let’s talk about how to get the most bang for your buck.
Tips and Tricks to get the MOST out of Disney Genie Plus.
Let’s start with the most important! Purchase Genie Plus BEFORE 7AM. Purchasing capabilities will open at midnight, on the day of your park visit. Genie Plus services could sell out so you want to make sure it’s purchased prior to 7AM! Having it purchased early also makes it easier to book your first selection right as the clock ticks to 7!
When you first open Disney Genie Plus for the day, it is going to ask you what you are interested in doing, at the park you are attending that day. Each park gives you a list of attractions to choose from. After you make your selection, the Disney Genie will give you recommendations. From here you can select your first Genie Plus of the day!
Genie Plus selections can first be scheduled at 7AM day of ONLY, for the park in which you have a reservation. Schedule your return times for after 12:00PM this way you can begin to stack your attractions. You will have very minimal wait times, in the AM hours, provided you are starting your day at rope drop! Genie Plus is really not needed before noon.
DO NOT tap into your first scheduled attraction until 11 or slightly after!! Once it has hit 11:00 (or 120 minutes from public park opening) get back on the app and select another attraction. This HAS TO be done BEFORE you tap in for the first attraction that was initially scheduled for 10:45 or 11. This is what is called stacking. If done this way, you will now be able to hold 2 attraction reservations at a time, all day long or while availability lasts.
If you need to change the return time that you booked, you can select edit my selection, and choose a better time for you.
Don’t see what you want? Refresh, refresh, refresh! Times and availability changes throughout the day.
Schedule your LL’s for times after 12:00PM this way you can begin to stack your LL’s.

Things to Remember…
Keep in mind: Genie Plus is subject to availability! First come, first served! If there is a certain ride or attraction that you absolutely MUST have, and you don’t want to wait stand-by, choose that attraction as your first reservation.
Disney Genie Plus is park-hopper friendly and easily transferrable from park-to-park. Just scroll to the top of your “tip board” and click “change park.”
Spend time before you hit the parks deciding what your priorities are, and what you would want to “reserve” with Disney Genie Plus.
If an error should pop up, Screenshot, Screenshot, Screenshot. Then proceed to a cast member located under the blue umbrella kiosks and explain what happened. These kiosks can be found throughout the parks and are plentiful. There’s no guarantee that they can fix things for you, but cast members will do their best to help you solve the challenge at hand.
