A visit to Disney World is a magical experience, and part of that magic extends beyond the parks themselves. Resorts at Disney World offer a wealth of amenities and activities that can make your stay just as memorable as your time in the parks. Here’s how you can make the most of your resort day at Disney World.
Explore More Walt Disney World
Planning a Walt Disney World vacation involves more than planning the perfect resort day. Before you continue, be sure to visit our Explore Walt Disney World hub, where you’ll find destination overviews, planning resources, dining recommendations, park guides, seasonal events, and the latest Disney news—all conveniently organized in one place to help you plan an unforgettable vacation.
Start with a Leisurely Breakfast
Begin your day with a delicious breakfast at one of Disney’s many themed restaurants or cafes. Whether you prefer a character breakfast or a quiet meal at a resort’s cozy eatery, Disney World offers options to suit every taste.

My recommendations:
- Toppolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort (Character Dining with Mickey and friends)
- Boma- Flavors of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge (Full-service buffet)
- Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming at Disney Springs (weekend brunch option)
Explore Your Resort
Take some time to explore the grounds of your resort. Disney’s resorts are meticulously themed, from the lush greenery of Animal Kingdom Lodge to the nostalgic charm of Disney’s BoardWalk. Wander through gardens, check out the recreational facilities and activities, and enjoy the unique architecture and decor that each resort offers.

My recommendations:
Relax by the Pool
Disney’s resort pools are not just places to swim—they are attractions. Many feature water slides, splash zones for kids, and themed areas that immerse you in Disney magic. Grab a lounge chair, soak up the sun, and enjoy a refreshing swim to beat the Florida heat.

Indulge in Resort Activities
Whether you’re on a group trip with family and friends or a solo trip, Disney World resorts host a variety of activities throughout the day. From outdoor movies under the stars to arts and crafts sessions for children, there’s always something fun happening. Each resort has a daily activity schedule posted in general areas. Check with the front desk for a full list.

In addition, you can visit other Disney World Resorts and take part in their offered activities. For example, Coronado Springs Resort offers activities such as:
- Sangria University
- Spanish Mosaic Art
- Colors of Coronado Painting Experience
Activities available at some Disney moderate resorts and Disney deluxe level resorts include:

- Bike rental
- Fishing
- Boat rentals
- Horseback riding

Play a Round of Golf
Disney World is home to 4 world class golf courses. Here, guests can play a full 18 holes at 1 of 3 PGA championship courses or enjoy a quick 9-holes at Oak Trail Golf Course. Kids are also invited to take junior golf lessons or play a round of foot golf on select courses.

Lastly, if mini golf is more your speed, you have your choice of 2 courses. Challenge your loved ones to a fun game at either Fantasia Gardens or Winter Summerland on Disney World property.
Enjoy Dining Options
Disney resorts as well as Disney Springs offer a diverse range of dining options! From casual bites to fine dining experiences, you’re sure to find your perfect match. Use your resort day to indulge in a meal at a restaurant you’ve been eyeing or try a quick-service spot for a satisfying lunch by the pool.

My recommendations: (Disney Resorts)
- Sannaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Kidani Village
- California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- Bar Riva at Riviera Resort (pool bar)
My recommendations: (Disney Springs)
- Morimoto Asia (table service)
- Polite Pig (quick service)
- Raglan Road (table service)
Treat Yourself to Spa Time
One Disney resort features a full-service spa where you can pamper yourself with massages, facials, and other treatments. Treat yourself to a spa day to unwind and recharge before heading back into the excitement of the parks.

Currently, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is the only hotel offering a full-service spa menu. Wilderness Lodge has a limited-service menu for quick pampering. Unfortunately, the spa at Saratoga Springs Resort has not reopened since the closure in 2020.
Shopping and Souvenirs
Browse the shops at your resort or visit Disney Springs for unique souvenirs and Disney merchandise. Whether you’re looking for gifts for loved ones back home or a special keepsake to remember your trip, you’ll find plenty of options right at your fingertips.
Evening Entertainment
As the day winds down, many Disney resorts offer evening entertainment. Enjoy live music, performances, or even fireworks viewing areas. Disney Springs is currently offering a Drone Show for a limited time twice a night. Check the schedule to see what’s happening during your stay and enjoy some nighttime magic without leaving property.

Disney Resorts with live evening entertainment include:
- Skat Cat’s Lounge at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter
- River Roost Lounge at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside
- Disney’s Boardwalk
Relax and Unwind
Above all, use your resort day to relax and unwind. Whether you choose to lounge by the pool, explore the resort’s amenities, or simply enjoy the ambiance, taking time to recharge will ensure you have the energy to fully enjoy the rest of your Disney World vacation.
By making the most of your resort day at Disney World, you’ll discover that the magic of Disney extends far beyond the parks themselves. Embrace the unique atmosphere of your resort and beyond to create unforgettable memories during every moment of your stay.
