MAJOR Changes to Disney Cruise Line COVID Testing

MAJOR Changes to Disney Cruise Line COVID Testing

You might remember (how can we forget, right?) that the world went crazy back in 2020 and a “new” normal was born out of necessity from the onslaught of a global pandemic. The phrase “the safety of our guests” took on an entirely new way of thinking and brought health to the forefront.

From the very beginning, Disney has taken extraordinary measures to protect the health of their guests no matter if in the parks or on the high seas. Temperature checks, COVID testing, and vaccination requirements were just a few of what was required.

Well, the times are a changing! Today’s announcement seems like the cruising news we have all been waiting for!

A Closer Look at the Updated Requirements

Let’s skip right to the changes!

A few weeks ago, an announcement from Disney Cruise Line came through with updated information stating that guests ages 12 and older must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the time of sailing. With No Exceptions. This is a change from requiring guests aged 5 and over to be fully vaccinated. This new change is to take effect in just a few days on September 2, 2022, for sailings departing the U.S. and Canadian ports.

Fast forward a few weeks and today’s news is even better! Per Disney Cruise Line, beginning September 23, 2022, for Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish sailings, departing the United States, fully vaccinated guests are no longer required to participate in COVID-19 testing.

What If You Are Unvaccinated?

For Unvaccinated Guests (ages 11 & under,) there is only a slight adjustment to protocols. Guests NOT Vaccinated will still need to submit a negative COVID-19 test 1-3 days prior to sailing but will no longer be required to take a second COVID test, at the terminal, on embarkation day.
