Virtual Queue, Virtual Queue and more Virtual Queues…..with a Twist!
May 27th is the day, folks! You might be saying “the day for what?!”
It’s the day the general public can officially save the galaxy with the much-anticipated opening of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT! There have been media previews, annual passholder previews and DVC previews up to this point and we have sadly missed them all (Adulting STINKS sometimes!) The good news is, we will have the opportunity to hitch a ride on an intergalactic chase through time and space, in just a few more weeks! 40 more days, to be exact!

What Exactly is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind?
In case you haven’t heard, Guardians is the newest (and coolest) attraction in Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort. This attraction is an indoor roller-coaster that rivals anything property wide and is being billed as a family friendly-thrill coaster. Guardians is one of the longest indoor roller coasters in the world and is the first of its kind!

Now that we’ve established the sheer awesomeness of this attraction, you might be wondering how you can ride? Can’t you just stand in line? Sadly, no. A normal standby line is not an option just yet. Your only choice to ride is a virtual queue or to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane. Let’s dive in.
How to Secure a Virtual Queue…
Anyone familiar with past virtual queues (Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure or Rise of the Resistance) will see a lot of similarities between the past and present. There are, however, a few surprise curveballs!
Beginning at 7AM, guests with a valid theme park ticket and a park pass reservation, for EPCOT, will be able to check for an available boarding group via the My Disney Experience app. This can be done by clicking on the virtual queue tab on the main home screen.

The greatest part…. the 7AM drop can be done from the comfort of your hotel room and more specifically your cozy bed!
If you were unlucky with the first drop, you can try again at 1PM! The kicker with this drop time is that you MUST be inside the park to try for a boarding group!
Disney has stated that, in order to give as many guests as possible the opportunity to save the galaxy, each person can enter the virtual queue no more than once per day during regular park hours.
As with anything in life, things happen so if the ride should break down or there should be technical issues of some kind, you might not get to ride. Having a boarding group does not guarantee the ability to ride Guardians.
Deluxe Resort Guests have Special Privileges!
It pays to stay Deluxe! It is no secret that we are huge fans of the deluxe resorts, not only for their amenities and outstanding accommodations but also the special “perks” that are sometimes offered. What is this special opportunity, you ask?
All guests staying at a Disney Deluxe Resort or Disney Deluxe Villa Resort have an additional opportunity to join a virtual queue at 6PM! This opportunity is only available on select days when there are extended, deluxe guest ONLY, magic hours. If you fall into this category for your next visit, you will be happy to know that you DO NOT need to physically be in EPCOT to attempt to snag a boarding pass! Deluxe guests must have valid park admission as well as a park pass reservation to EPCOT for the day or hold a valid park hopper add on.
One More Option to Ride…
If the process of a virtual queue gives you hives, you can bypass the craziness and head straight for the gold mine that is the Individual Lightning Lane!
Per Disney, guests with valid theme park admission and park pass reservations can skip the virtual queue process and purchase an Individual Lightning Lane (ILL) via their My Disney Experience app. Individual Lightning Lanes are subject to availability and are limited. The price for this option is currently unknown.
Virtual queue and Individual Lightning Lane (ILL) selections are only accessible via the My Disney Experience App. If you find that you have questions or technical issues after successfully or unsuccessfully trying, look for one of the Guest Experience Team Cast Members in the park. These Cast Members will be happy to help at any one of the blue umbrellas located throughout the park.
Say CHEESE!
Joining the ranks of Space Mountain, Mine Train and Expedition Everest, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind offers an out of this world ride photo! Guests will have two options to allow photos to automatically link to their My Disney Experience app.

Photo Upload Options Are:
- Enable Bluetooth® on your mobile device before riding. Make sure you are logged into the app and phone is not in low power mode. Once set, keep your device in a pocket or bag while enjoying the ride.
- Wear a MagicBand that is linked to a My Disney Experience account. (Our preferred way!)
