Guess who’s BACK….BACK AGAIN……Vans are BACK…..tell a friend! I bet you can’t guess that I am excited about today’s news!!?? Can you? What’s the news, you ask? In case you haven’t heard, we will once again be able to ride in “Minnie Van” style beginning June 29th!
What’s the Big Deal?
The Minnie Vans just might be my favorite form of transportation on property! Now, I know that it can get pricey (we’ll get to that in a minute) but the convenience is overwhelming. Minnie Vans are super easy to schedule and come within a few minutes notice. I find that the vans can be a HUGE help especially if staying at a large Disney Resort that might have slow bus/full bus issues (I’m looking at you Coronado Springs) or Disney Resorts where the Skyliner might get backed up during peek park times…. (Ahem, Caribbean Beach!) Minnie Vans are my number one draft pick for rope drop and/or park close, hands down!
What is a Minnie Van?
In a nutshell, a Minnie Van is Disney’s answer to an Uber or Lyft. However, unlike most public ride share services, Minnie Vans can take you directly to the front gate of each park! Per Disney, Minnie Vans offer special drop-off locations that can only be accessed by this service! Vans can be scheduled daily, between the hours of 6:30AM -Midnight (subject to change) and through a unique partnership with Lyft, can be scheduled directly through the Lyft App. Minnie Vans DO offer car seats (2 per vehicle) as well as accessible vans that can accommodate guests with wheelchairs or scooters.
Booking an accessible van must be called in at (407) 828-3500 and can be scheduled up to 60 minutes prior to requested pick up. Additional fees may apply for an accessible Minnie Van.
How to Schedule and How Much?
If you find yourself wanting to try out the greatness that is a Minnie Van, you simply need to:
- Download the official Lyft app to your smartphone. (IOS or Android are both available.)
- Input where you would like to go!
- Scroll down until you see the bright red Minnie Van icon and click to make your selection.
- Click “confirm and request.” Once active, you will be able to track your vehicle on the interactive map.
Exact pricing is not quite available at this time but if history repeats itself, we will see pricing anywhere from $25 – $45 per ride. It has been confirmed that pricing will be based on location/distance between point A and point B.
Minnie Vans are currently set to be available for the entirety of the Walt Disney World Resort ONLY. Airport transfers will hopefully be re-launched at a later date.
