What is Universal Islands of Adventure?
Opened in 1999, Islands of Adventure is one of the major theme parks at Universal Orlando Resort.
Unlike Universal Studios Florida, which places guests inside movies and television shows, Islands of Adventure invites you to explore richly themed worlds inspired by books, comics, myths, and blockbuster films.
Each island tells its own story, making the park feel like several adventures rolled into one unforgettable day.

Port of Entry
Every adventure begins beneath the iconic Pharos Lighthouse.
Port of Entry sets the tone with detailed architecture, waterfront views, unique shopping, and dining. While there aren’t any attractions here, it’s one of the most beautifully themed entrance areas in any theme park.
Marvel Super Hero Island
One of the park’s most energetic lands, Marvel Super Hero Island lets guests join the action alongside legendary comic book heroes.
Highlights include:
- The Incredible Hulk Coaster
- The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man
- Storm Force Accelatron
- Doctor Doom’s Fearfall
The colorful comic-book styling makes this one of the most recognizable areas in the park.
Toon Lagoon
This colorful island celebrates classic comic strips with water rides, family attractions, and larger-than-life scenery.
Don’t miss:
- Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls
- Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges
Be prepared—you’ll probably get soaked!
Jurassic Park
One of my favorite areas of the park, Jurassic Park combines incredible theming with unforgettable attractions.
You’ll find:
- Jurassic World VelociCoaster
- Jurassic Park River Adventure
- Camp Jurassic
- Jurassic Park Discovery Center
Jurassic World VelociCoaster has quickly become one of the highest-rated roller coasters anywhere and is a must-do for thrill seekers.
Skull Island: Reign of Kong
Prepare for an expedition unlike any other as you journey deep into Skull Island.
This immersive attraction combines enormous sets, incredible special effects, and encounters with King Kong himself.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade
Perhaps the most iconic area of Islands of Adventure, Hogsmeade transports guests directly into the Wizarding World.
Explore:
- Hogwarts Castle
- Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
- Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
- Flight of the Hippogriff
