The Moment We Have All Been Waiting For….
We have been listening to the MagicBand buzz for a while now and FINALLY have some solid news. The NEW MagicBand model, aptly named MagicBand+ will make its official debut on July 27th!
If you are new to Disney life, MagicBands are currently exclusive to Walt Disney World (Disneyland later this year) and does everything from acting as your room key and park ticket all the way to being your virtual wallet.
MagicBands essentially make life so much easier when on property creating a more seamless trip.
NEW Features for MagicBand+
As great as the series 1 and 2 MagicBands were, the plus series is so much more. Per Disney, MagicBand+ will offer color-changing lights, haptic vibrations and gesture recognition. It will also pair with smartphones via the My Disney Experience app. Continuing the tradition of MagicBands past, the plus version will offer more than 25 different designs offering something for everyone!
Interactive Experiences
Not only will the new plus bands offer the feature mentioned above, but they will also offer several interactive experiences in and around all 4 theme parks! Lets take a closer look…
Disney Fab 50 Quest
In case you don’t know, the 50th Anniversary celebration is in full swing at the Walt Disney World Resort! When the celebration first started, Walt Disney World created and released several FABULOUS golden statues around all 4 parks, named the Fab 50 Character Collection. MagicBand+ will offer the opportunity for guests to bring the sculptures to life! Per Disney, guests can interact with the Disney Fab 50 Character Collection throughout all four theme parks with the “Disney Fab 50 Quest.” Tinker Bell will be leading the charge as the master of ceremonies within the experience. She will help guests bring the sculptures to life using virtual pixie! (I mean, who can’t use a good helping of pixie dust? Am I right?!) Guests can wave their hand to sprinkle virtual pixie dust at each Disney Fab 50 Character sculpture for different reactions!
Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters
Taking a trip to Batuu, is above and beyond on a normal day but when you add in a Star Wars themed scavenger hunt it becomes otherworldy!
Per Disney, with MagicBand+ you can partake in seeking virtual bounties scattered Galaxy’s Edge. Vibrations and lights on MagicBand+ will lead guests on an exciting adventure to find a bounty. Guests can also utilize the Play Disney Parks app’s augmented reality thermal viewer to uncover who is lurking in the shadows.
Nighttime Spectaculars
Last but not least, each nighttime spectacular, “Disney Enchantment” at Magic Kingdom Park and “Harmonious” at EPCOT, will offer guests a unique experience designed to heighten the magic. Per Disney, MagicBand+ will sing right along with each show, “lighting up and vibrating in sync with fireworks, visual effects, and music. Guests’ MagicBand+ will also engage as all four theme park icons transform into Beacons of Magic!”

Guests of all on property resorts can purchase MagicBand+ prior to their arrival, at a discounted price. If staying off property, you can purchase a full price MagicBand+ at shopDisney.com or select stores throughout Walt Disney World. Full MagicBand+ prices will start at $34.99

- EPCOT: Pin Traders – Camera Center
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Celebrity 5 & 10 and Tatooine Traders
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park: Discovery Trading Company
- Disney Springs: Disney’s Pin Traders
- Select merchandise locations at Disney Resort hotels
